Knitting Workshops This Autumn.
I have lots of exciting Knitting workshops coming up at The Wool Gallery St Neots this autumn.
First up, we have beginner’s knitting on Thursday evenings in October. From the 22nd October to 5th November, you can learn the very basics of the craft or refresh your knowledge if you are bit rusty. The class covers the basic knit and purl stitches, plus casting on, casting off and even a little bit of playing with the stitches and looking at basic patterns depending on skill level. The aim is simply to build confidence in your skills so you can finish a project independently. All materials you need will be provided.

In November, we have another of our popular Sock Knitting workshops on Thursday evenings starting on the 12th. This class will be on alternate Thursday evenings from then for three classes, to give yourself enough time to finish each section of the sock. We will be looking at top down socks, knitting in the round using either mini circular needles or double pointed needles and we will cover how to knit in the round, shaping, turning a heel and closing the toe to create a perfectly fitting pair of socks. You will receive all the materials needed to make one pair of super comfy socks in the colour of your choice.
Finally, following on from the super fun colour work class, we have a colour work hat knitting class on two Saturdays in December, so perfect timing for making an adorable hat for a Christmas gift! If you are new to the Fair Isle technique or simply haven’t yet had the confidence to create a project using it then this class is for you. We will cover the basics of working Fair Isle, or stranded knitting, in the round in different ways and then guidance will be given to complete a gorgeous colour work hat pattern. You can choose to bring your own materials to knit the hat or buy the yarn needed to complete it from The Wool Gallery, with differing price points of scrummy yarn suggested.

Crochet Granny Square Workshop Loop, London. Saturday October 10th, 11am-3.30pm
This workshop is perfectly timed to coincide with the publication of my new book, Complete Guide to Granny Squares and the class is great for new crocheters, those needing a refresher, or those who know the basic stitches, but want to add to their knowledge or gain confidence in using these stitches to make a finished project.
We will be exploring granny squares, charts, and colourful projects, choosing a motif from my book or card decks to try, while learning to read charted patterns and work in the round. We will explore techniques including cluster stitches (shells, puffs, bobbles) depending on your skill level, then look at samples from my new book to demonstrate how motifs can be used in finished projects, learning how to join the motifs together with a professional finish.
Participants must at least know the basic stitches, UK double crochet, half treble and treble crochet to join the class.
