It is less than a month to go until the launch of my new book, The Complete Guide to Granny Squares. This book has all you need to know to make granny squares and is designed to work alongside my series of granny decks as a bit of a how to guide, but can also be used as a standalone pattern book. If charted patterns aren’t for you, then this book includes the charted patterns from both The Granny Square Card Deck and The Granny Square Flowers Card Deck, AND the written text for all 100 motifs too. Plus, it has a complete how to guide to getting started with crochet: yarn, hooks, stitch guide, joining methods, chart reading, and colour advice. My favourite thing about the book though is that it also includes some patterns to demonstrate how you might use the squares to make your own projects. There are four blanket patterns, a super squishy, chunky scarf, a cute bag, a cushion cover and a cardigan. Next month, I will be doing some events to launch the book too. There is a workshop at Loop in Islington on Saturday October the 10th, where we will be exploring granny squares, charts, and colourful projects, choosing a motif from my book or card decks to try, while learning to read charted patterns and work in the round. We will play with techniques including cluster stitches (shells, puffs, bobbles) depending on your skill level, then look at samples from my new book to demonstrate how motifs can be used in finished projects, learning how to join the motifs together with a professional finish. Then on Thursday 15th October, The Wool Gallery, St Neots will be having a launch party for the book, where I shall be doing a talk and Q&A and also hosting a little fashion show, with fizz and cake and a goodie bag included in the tickets. This should be such a fun evening, where you can try on some samples made from the motifs in the deck and plan your next granny square project!
I will have signed copies of the book available to preorder on the website soon so keep your eyes peeled! For now, you can preorder unsigned copies from the publisher here: Claire Montgomerie's Complete Guide to Granny Squares
