It is less than a month to go until the launch of my new book, The Complete Guide to Granny Squares. This book has all you need to know to make granny squares and is designed to work alongside my series of granny decks as a bit of a how to guide, but can also be used as a standalone pattern book. If charted patterns aren’t for you, then this book includes the charted patterns from both The Granny Square Card Deck and The Granny Square Flowers Card Deck, AND the written text for all 100 motifs too. Plus, it has a complete how to guide to getting started with crochet: yarn, hooks, stitch guide, joining methods, chart reading, and colour advice.

My favourite thing about the book though is that it also includes some patterns to demonstrate how you might use the squares to make your own projects. There are four blanket patterns, a super squishy, chunky scarf, a cute bag, a cushion cover and a cardigan.

Next month, I will be doing some events to launch the book too. There is a workshop at Loop in Islington on Saturday October the 10th, where we will be exploring granny squares, charts, and colourful projects, choosing a motif from my book or card decks to try, while learning to read charted patterns and work in the round. We will play with techniques including cluster stitches (shells, puffs, bobbles) depending on your skill level, then look at samples from my new book to demonstrate how motifs can be used in finished projects, learning how to join the motifs together with a professional finish.

Then on Thursday 15th October, The Wool Gallery, St Neots will be having a launch party for the book, where I shall be doing a talk and Q&A and also hosting a little fashion show, with fizz and cake and a goodie bag included in the tickets. This should be such a fun evening, where you can try on some samples made from the motifs in the deck and plan your next granny square project!
I will have signed copies of the book available to preorder on the website soon so keep your eyes peeled!

For now, you can preorder unsigned copies from the publisher here:

As the weather starts to get chillier, my knitting and crochet classes always ramp up while everyone scrambles to get some lovely woolies made to wear before the first properly cold snap! So far, I have a few workshops in the pipeline this Autumn, the first is at Sconch this weekend, on Saturday the 12th September.

Lovely Sam has asked me back to Essex to teach some fabulous workshops showing you how to read crochet charts and use my crochet card decks. One is in the morning and one in the afternoon and you get a discount if you book onto the whole day! An added extra this year is that now I have a new deck to discuss, and I will have a preview of my new book, due out in October to show everyone too!

Find out more and book onto the class on the Sconch website (add link to the words sconch website)

I am also back at Loop this Autumn, which is perfectly timed to coincide with the publication of my new book, The Complete Guide to Granny Squares. The class is great for new crocheters, those needing a refresher, or those who know the basic stitches, but want to add to their knowledge or gain confidence in using these stitches to make a finished project.

We will be exploring granny squares, charts, and colourful projects, choosing a motif from my book or card decks to try, while learning to read charted patterns and work in the round. We will explore techniques including cluster stitches (shells, puffs, bobbles) depending on your skill level, then look at samples from my new book to demonstrate how motifs can be used in finished projects, learning how to join the motifs together with a professional finish.

Participants must at least know the basic stitches, UK double crochet, half treble and treble crochet to join the class.

Find out more information or book on via the loop website:
